Print – Spotten Lantern Fly (Lycorma delicatula) – Botanical Illustration – 9×12″

This botanical illustration is a color pencil study on Spotted Lantern Fly, a non-native insect that is considered potentially invasive in the WPA region. It is attracted to Tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima), originally from China, and thus also a non-native. While the tree is its immediately recognizable host, the US does not have vast stands of this tree and the SLF consumes neighboring plants and trees in search of food sources.
